Lake Pepin still thin by Lake City

Swung by Pepin on my way back from Rochester this afternoon.

Ice is glass smooth but not thick enough. No one was on the lake and
did not see any evidence anyone has been out. The Boat Landing SE of
town had about 2-3 inches. The next boat landing NW of town maybe two
inches of ice. And the wayside rest further on had open water. and
there was open water out in the main channel.

Maybe by New Years weekend it might be thick enough if the weather
gets cold enough.

That's a great work. This

Pepin

Ice looked pretty fair at Pepin on Friday.
Tried to get the trailer on to set the skeeter and stern-steerers. Managed to drop the trailer thru on the landing so decided to wait a few days. Fishermen reported some open water above Lake City.
Doesn't look much better this morning.

Pepin

Drilled a few holes Friday morning and looks like there was a bit over 4" of ice at Pepin. Landing is good and the ice looks pretty fair below town. The lake is still wide open, Deer Island to Lake City to Stockholm.
Got a couple of stern-steerers on at Pepin today but lack of wind prevented any rides.

Row boat needed!

Anyone wishing to experience the thrill of iceboating at Pepin, had better bring their own row boat. Ours is in use getting across the 75' of open water by the Pickle Factory.
