Nite National -- No wind.

The forecast of 15 mph winds was off -- by about 15 mph. One race was finished Saturday morning, and a second one started but time expired.

The class meeting was short and brief. Rick Wilfert steps in as vice-commodore.

Regatta?

Does one race make a regatta? Could this be still sailed or sailed in December next season?

One race does not a regatta make.

It's happened before. The '04 National was attempted in Madison in February of that year, but only one race was sailed. The regatta was eventually started over in December on Lake Christina near Ashby, MN, and won by Greg Simon of Madison.

The hope is we'll sail on the best ice available the weekend after the DN's Western Challenge this coming December.
