Northwest Called ON for Lake Geneva

Via Paul Krueger: The Northwest Ice Yacht Regatta has been called on for February 22,23,24, 2008. Check the answering service at 608-838-3861 after 1:00 P.M. CST on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 for the final confirmation.

Geneva Lake at Fontana, WI ice conditions:
Over 12" of ice, surface rated as a 7 or 8, (MONDAY, ed) today there are areas of 1/4" shell ice but cold temps tonight will take care of shell ice.

They want to let shell ice heal up today and then will
measure ice all over the lake on Tuesday in anticipation of the
Northwestern Ice Yachting Association Regatta scheduled for February
22-24, 2008.

Ice Report Monday

Ice Report from Geneva

"...Overall the ice condition is good for sailing larger boats, but bumpy for DN's...."

The Skeeter Ice Boat Club (SIBC) plans to check the ice Tuesday (after things have a chance to solidify) and we'll know more then.

Another report - watch that thread for updates!

"Monday morning our club [SIBC] fleet captain drove onto the ice in Fontana and then walked out into the lake a considerable distance. His report was that the surface is nice and smooth except next to shore where cars and snow mobile tracks were not completely melted away."
