new guy Prior Lake

I'm new to the group I have at the moment a home made Ice surfer this is my first year 3rd time out yesterday. The ice was 6 to 7 in thick according to the ice fisherman. I'm still working out the kinks, think I have a blade sharpening problam as the back end tends to want to spin out as the speed gets up when side loaded with the wind. At the moment my blades are ground flat, I'm going to put a slight angle to the outside on them would that help?

iceboard blades

Hi
I'm also new to this group, several years ago I built a couple of iceboards.
I used the tired and true iceboat method for my blades.
They have a rocker and are sharpened to 45°.
The second, longer board I used side stiffners made from aluminum.
Here are some pics of my boards.
The boards work great!!
They are kinda scarey at speed, the cold causes the rubber in the trucks to stay compressed and you get a bad speed wobble.
Do you have any photos of your rig??

The little one is the most fun cause it carves real tight, the big one is nicer for rough ice or snow patches.

Mine is similar....

My runners are 45 degress and dig in too much, IMO. If I did it again, I would go with 90 degrees runners.

Runner sharpening

Iceboaters sharpen their blades so they ride on the edge and not on a flat surface. The best way is to give each side a bevel of 45 degrees that they meet in the center of the blade. Most iceboaters use a belt sander to obtain this. Good luck
