I've repeatedly had a giggle over the blistering I've taken by some of the more stoic iceboaters, about the use of this particular word,... and about the use of hyperbole in promotional arts.

In the past 5 years, We've used this EPIC word in association with the Western Challenge Regatta / Western Open since November of 2003 over a dozen times.

Several of the events were indeed EPIC by any definition, most notably Saturday at Dead Lake were undeniably Epic.EPIC DEFINED on Dec 5th 2006.

Amusingly, 30 days after that post, the Weather Channel announced their new extreme sporting conditions show is annouced with the name Epic Conditions.

It's probably just a coincidence, if those things exist, and I've seen enough evidence to think they may not. Frankly the word's not that uncommon in use. It's nonetheless Amusing.

Three quick observations:
1. Iceboating was EPIC long before EPIC was cool!
2. Nobody in the world does EPIC better than we do, we didn't invent it, but we've now exceeded it!
3. We need a new superlative, this one's getting a little rutted up. My new favorite word, and plan to see plenty of it is AMAZING! That's what it's going to be this year.
