Buffalo Lake is substantially frozen as of sunrise this morning!

As it wss 3 degrees at Milepost 8 this morning, the ice checkers there may find suitable sailing ice. Certainly Sailing Sunday.

The way this sailor sees it, we're shaping up for a fantastic weekend in Buffalo for the Great Western Challenge.

The North Bay of Pelican Lake near Ashby and reportedly Lake Christina froze overnight!

We now have ICE !!!

I received a very short message a few moments ago, (middle of the night), a lake in the Detroit Lakes MN area froze yesterday, Saturday Nov 28.

Still waiting for information about Christina near Ashby.

Of course it looks like the ice is still pretty far north...

I got to thinking the other day about the the fear some have of the Croix;the Hudson River was and is a Ice boating site, why not the croix? The lower st. croix is 50 feet deep in most places and when it freezes has no more issues than any other body of water.
The river has almost zero use in winter and is awesome without snow(most ice is):>)Perhaps I'll see you out there this year.

ernies at gull lake says 2' of ice and solid at their shoreline. says clear to 2" drifts, but what does he know. web cam there shows more snow than that. web cam at ernies is broke, and web cam at bemidji shows less snow and more metling thurs/fri. freezing both spots fri night and 50 on sat with 12 mph wind. not freeze sat night. markham and i are considering a road trip at 6 am sat. 4 hrs to bemidji. meyer

markham wants to sail, although still will come up with an excuse after checking the weather on the computer. anyone else? get on at shorewood yc. will check today how rough yet. little snow we got melted by sat, and can see any holes today, plenty cold next few nights. up nord mast be snowed in.

Sailed Sunday AM in strong winds with a handful of local sailors. Started at 9 am and finished at 1 pm. Ice was deteriorating rapidly and when the boats were pulled of the ice most of the skippers got wet from going through in shallow water. The main lake still had 20 inches of good ice but access is difficult. Many runner sized drain holes were seen out in the lake as well as a few boat sized ones. I think the rain today and the rest of the week has killed the season. You will need to head way north to get any more ice sailing this year.

iced good at 7 pm sat, no slush, solid. minnetonka ice yacht racing champ races at 10am sharp. might be too windy by 2 pm, except for kennedy. out of harrys. markham says he is ready to go. bring your best stuff. this will be best day of the year!!! meyer
