Congrats to Mark "Doctor" Christensen (US 4824) for racking up another soft water victory. The Doctor continued his winning ways in the MC fleet by taking top honors at the 2014 MC Invitational.
It’s official! Mike Miller, DN 5369, is the new Western Region Commodore!!!
Thank you, Commodore Miller, for your willingness to serve the DN fleet.
And to echo Deb Whitehorse: “Many thanks to outgoing WR Commodore Julie Jankowski for her unwavering dedication to the DN class during her three years as Commodore.”
However- Back in Minnetonka we have very good chance of ice Sat-Sun. May be a little rough but after an entire season has just about snowed by, time to get out and check it out.

Don't shoot the messenger!
The DN Western Regional Championship Regatta tentatively scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. Never a good thing this late in the year.
Think ice!

The jinx is over!
Scott Brown, the best Nite sailor to have never won a national championship finally earned top honors. Scott was crowned 2014 Nite National champion this past weekend on Green Lake, WI.
Details are sketchy but his competitors report that Scott thoroughly dominate the regatta. Scott won the first 4 races and then sealed the deal with a top three finish in the 5th and final race.
Scott now joins an exclusive list of Tonka sailors who have won on the National stage.
Congratulations, Scott.
Hear yea hear yea. Meyer wins race 2!

Regatta is complete. Rumor has it that Karol Jablonski, aka "King Karol" reigns supreme. I will post results when I get them.
Here is a brief update from Estonia:
"03/05/2014
Today we had a really beautiful weather, bright sun, not really shifty wind of 3-4 m/s speed. In those great conditions we were able to sail 4 races for fleets A and C, plus 3 races for fleet B, so in the end we have done all planed races for Gold fleet! Now we are waiting for the protest to end...."

Day 1: Only one Bronze fleet race completed due to poor visibility and weather conditions. The race was protested and thrown out.
Day 2: No racing due to fog.
Mark "Doctor" Christensen (US 4824) did the Minnesota crowd proud at the 2014 DN North American Championships.
The regatta was a one day shoot out held on Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, New York. The four race event featured incredibly smooth 4 day old black ice covered with hoar frost, a huge course and winds in the 18 to 25 range. The 2nd day of racing was cancelled due to sustained winds of 35 mph!!!
The Doctor sailed a consistent 3-3-2-4 but could not best Ron Sherry (sailing his blue US 44). Ron narrowly won the NA's crown beating the Doctor by just one point.
