Via John Dennis, the Western Challenge is called on for Lake Christina in Ashby, MN December 3 – 5, 2021. Final confirmation will be made on Wednesday, December 1 by 12 PM CT. The Western Challenge is a an informal tune-up fun regatta for DNs.

Thanks to Bob Cummins, who spoke with JD the other day, the Great Western Challenge is called on.
Dec 4-6 on the best ice in Minnesota. No ice reports yet, but a cold snap in our Fergus Falls area is predicted toward the end of November. Those of us in Minnesota will find that perfect black ice.
Gas prices up that way are $1.79! Minnesota has an indoor mask requirement.

Time to pony up! If you sail a DN you need to join the IDNIYRA. It's only 26 bucks and it is worth every penny.

He's not only fast, now he's in charge! Chris Berger, US5166, is the new Western Region Commodore.

Chris will need help so think of ways you can contribute as regatta season approaches. When was the last time you volunteered with registration, ordered trophies, scouted ice, rolled out the starting line or set up marks. These are things we can all do. It doesn't take much effort to make a big difference.

A huge shout out to Dan Hearn, Commodore, RC and scorers for another hugely successful Westerns.

IDNIYRA Class Secretary Deb Whitehorse reports: It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of Mark “Doctor” Christensen US4824. Mark sailed home on Saturday, December 14, 2019 which was also the first day of the Great Western Challenge, a regatta he was closely connected with. He was a highly competitive and skilled DN racer and part of a group of Minnesota DNers whose passion has helped to bring new people to the sport.

The DN Great Western Challenge is called "ON" for December 13-15, 2019 on Lake Puckaway Wisconsin.
Lake Puckaway is near Green Lake, Wisconsin. The Skeeter Western Challenge is cancelled for the season.

The 2020 DN North American Championship and Gold Cup dates have been posted.

The North American Championship is scheduled for January 18 – 25, 2020, in the western region. No excuse not to attend!

The Gold Cup is scheduled for February 8 – 15, 2020, at a site TBD in Europe. You can fly to Amsterdam faster than you can drive to Lake Geneva. No excuse not to attend!

Ron Sherry held of the Pols and many other talented sailors to win the 2019 North American Championship.
The regatta was held on Lake Wawasee in Syracuse Indiana.

Evans and Dennis finish in top ten. Bloom finishes 16.

Congratulations to Poland's Michal Burczynski (P114} who won the Gold Cup in a borrowed boat when his equipment never made it onto the airplane! The regatta was held on Lake Indian Hills, Ohio.
